regretting the dead
I don't know why, but of all my acquaintances and friends from downtown Manhattan who have died (and there were more than a handful, what with drugs and AIDS), the one I miss most often is Lance Loud (ok wikipedia entry). We were not close friends. I went to many Mumps gigs and was at a couple of the same parties as Lance. I miss his humor, what I can only describe as his luminosity. He never affected the "I don't care" attitude that was fashionable at the time. He cared.
